Look....Up in the sky, it's a phaser, it's a flanger, it's a delay with a crazy randomizer. It's also a teenie-weenie wet/dry mixer, and wave shape generator with rate, depth, range, and feedback controls, plus a unique, award winning randomness circuitry which inspired its name.
The Randomatic is the kind of product that would lend itself well to a TV informercial. It's got way more than its share of options, in addition to producing musical, and predictable effects many players value, (see sample one: randomatic normal ). The Mix dial lets you zero in on exactly how much effect you want in the mix. In our sample: (randomatic blend), we got a note feeding back, way down in the mix. Then we played something around the note as it was moaning away. The whole procedure is heard in the sample, to show it's not a fluke, or studio trick. We've never really been able to do this before: easily, and with one pedal. Check out how the note is soft as a flute in the mix, yet keeps right on going...that's control!
The Randomizer circuit is a stroke of genuis. Most of us have noted how phasers sometimes sound mechanical, with their perfectly even cycles. The randomizer can be switched on, or off as desired. You can also dial in the amount of randomness, and unpredictability you want in its cycles. That sounds like a contradiction in terms, but all you have to do is turn one knob!
Before we talk you into a trance: please note that the Randomatic has a short learning curve. Pefftronics asks you to read their short owners manual before using the effect. It takes about five minutes to absorb, and it's worth reading. If you've been playing for a while though, there'll be no suffering.
So here you have tones as familiar as a standard phaser, and flanger, and delay pedal in one box. Or you can stretch out into massively detuned random cycles, distant, or very present chaos, and effects similar to some of those found on an EH Polyflange, and Sixteen Second delay, (check out samples: effects, & flange). The Super Randomatic covers a lot of ground, there's plenty to work with and like, in this one unique floor pedal. Enjoy!
