The Maestro Fuzz-Tone
A good sounding, early two-toned fuzz; not whimpy, and not outrageous either. This wedge- shaped old timer delivers the goods with a musical, and ballanced output, housed in a sturdy metal box. Controls are three radial knobs that look like they came off of a Fender Amp. They allow you to adjust Volume, Balance, and Sustain. There's also a Fuzz1- Fuzz2, A/B slider switch to select fuzz voicing. Check out the "Deathtone" vibe on sample two, it works without being overwhelming! To some of our younger/newer players: Remember; a majority of the audiences you will play in front of, would like to hear at least some of what you're singing about. Here's a good two-sound pedal that will pretty much keep the vibe of Metal, yet lets some of the lyrics get through with just a bit of restraint on your part. That's good if some GIRLS come to your shows; hey, they spend a ton of money on music stuff.

You're probably right in assuming that guys will show up to hear your most intense solos, and to see the song where you bite the head off of a rabbid skunk. However, the girls want to hear songs about young love. [Decisions, decisions...what's a guy gonna do?] Backing off while the singer works, is an effective contrast in live performance. The Grunge guys worked that to death, but didn't invent it. Listen to the early Doors, and Jim Morrison work up and down with almost a Jazz feel on the drum rolls, then way up or down in volume. When your singer finally shuts up, kick on the Z.Vex "Machine" before this pedal in the signal chain, and: BAM...STRAIGHT TO THE DEPTHS OF HELL FOREVER! Unless; of course, it's a school night. :-) Enjoy!
