The Guyatone Wah Rocker is a hard working, grape colored envelope filter with an attitude. There's more quacking for the size, and for the price than you'll encounter with the majority of pedals you're likely to find. The Wah Rocker uses a velocity sensitive, pick activated approach for creating the Wah-Wah effect. The popular advantages of a pick activated effect allows you to avoid standing on one foot, and insures that vowel sound cycle is in synch with your right hand technique. The controls are simple: Threshold, and Decay. The Threshold setting determines the triggering sensitivity, the pedal will react to, and Decay determines the length of that reaction. By adjusting theses two dials you can set your sights for a steady uptown rhythm, or a long cycle that allows a lingering variety of tones before completion. The long decay setting goes particularly well with a bit of overdrive for featuring nice growling funk tones.
Listen to the Wah Rocker "Tones" sample for a good cross section of the kinds of sounds this pedal naturally produces. The first half of this sample has the treble backed off on a Les Paul with stock pick ups, and clean Amp. The second half has the treble dialed back up in the middle pickup position. Sample 2, "LP_Tele": the first half features a Les Paul with just a hint of grit on the preamp, the second half features a clean stock Telecaster on the neck pickup. The treble Tele pickup could etch glass; it's there if you need it, we took a rain check
