The Brown Sound
The BROWNSOUND pedal

The Brownsound pedal came our way; back when, the thing was to build huge fuzz/distortion pedals. Production was peaking on sounds so big, your guitar could emulate an electric bass; or musical war-zone, with a guitar in the mix...somewhere. Well, the Bennett Brownsound doesn't "play that" it's a very useful, tasty fuzz/distortion. The Brownsound doesn't have an edge to it's sound, and it isn't heavily bass boosted either. There are two knobs; Drive: for the drive it adds to your signal, and volume, for how much you want it heard in the mix. That's about it, no buzzers, bells, internal flippers, extra pull-shift knobs. What's the world coming to?

When you step on this pedal, your world takes a very reasonable, step in the Rock direction; allowing a bigger, but moderately saturated sound, even at sane volumes. Here's a good pedal for a more full, thicker sound, than an overdrive, but it isn't an Earthmover. Similar to the heavier end of overdrive & beyond, but not as specific; more "comfortable", somehow. There; it's been said!

Put another way think of bands that are all over LP records,(the age of vinyl), Pre-Metal, non-Metal? Yes, some distortion, but not brutal, or tiny...the Brownsound isn't antiseptic, or neutered, heaven forbid!

Ladies and Y'all: Think of the times EVERYONE says "turn it down Jimi" & you're sick of riding the "OD Screamer" pedal. Now, you can't have much fun until the singer shuts up. Yo; here's more fun in a box, for those very moments, (which last a l-o-n-g time, in cutsie Pop bands). Yeah, we noticed that too.

Good time Rock & Roll featured here! The Brownsound is one you can use a lot, while people are singing, or to fill in gaps (with a clean rig), better than many ODs. Want to give your audience a break, from the minimal midrange bump, or maximum grinders? The Brownsound is great candidate for some 70-80's emulations, growling rhythms, full fill-ins, and tasty leads from a medium-duty, kick in the ass.
