The Line6 AX 2 212 guitar amplifier is a real piece of work, check it out: Line6 was nice enough to send us their big Amp, to record! How exciting! We threw the biggest party of our lives. We called everybody, and posted invitations all over the Net. It was a "come early, stay late, bring the kids if you dare...weekend party, and music marathon". We remember all the players, who showed up...somewhat, but the details get a bit foggy. That weekend passed sorta like one of those dream sequences in a movie. Even though the details evade comprehension, we wound up with a bunch of audio samples of the Line6 AX2 212 Amplifier.
There was also this curious list of names, left behind, and some notes, scribbled on the back of a pizza carton. According to this list, these are the cats who laid down the tracks you'll hear, below. As you listen to the Amp, and playing; keep these fellas in mind, and see if you can make a connection between how the names, Amp tones, and player styles go together. Try clicking on the "blue numbers" below, (MP3 files) and see if a tone, or artist comes to mind. Here are some of the comments written on that pizza carton, after our Lost Weekend:
Two of the tracks say Eddie Von-Haalen played them, (it says here: he's known in the northern tundra, of Scandinavia), two different time periods are mentioned, it may refer to two different rigs he's used. Clearly: this is derivative work, and this "Von-Haalen" character is a rascal, but those above the Arctic Circle have little diversion! Like most players, "Von-Haalen" is paying dues...no blame! Another guy stands out, it was Billy Gibbson playing some Texas fatback, "Boogie Verde", sounds pretty good, huh! (Was that a real beard...how should we know)?
There are two tracks laid down by a "Mr. Gilmore" demonstrating some "primal" ambience, which shows you can adjust the AX2 212 settings, and lay it on more, or less while staying "in character", through your heaviest therapy session. Mr. Gilmore had a friend with him named Keith, they both had a similar accent, but Keith was harder to understand, (he loves Chuck Berry though), and was very friendly: Mr. Gilmore seemed to be "looking out" for him. Speaking of rhymtically strong guitarists, the "Ridge", stopped by, to share some tasty slapback echo/"Verb" licks. A quiet fellow, but he never dropped the beat, ever!
With his ultra sensitive hearing, Erik Jonson felt it was very difficult to exactly match his Strat tone. (It says that on the pizza thingie), SO...he played a stock LP Classic, on his name-sake Amp setting, to show just how much the Amp can do on it's own. His setting catches his flavor pretty well with a Strat, and DiMarzio HS-2 pickups. However; if you're poor like most musicians, you can get "in the ballpark" with an non-matching guitar, until you can afford the additional Strat, and pickup purchase. The "Beetals", Keith, Billy, Mr.G., and all the other guys used the stock factory patches: Absolutely no rewriting went down here; heck, this was a party, just more or less "patch". You; however, can tweak your brains out, if you get this Amp, it's highly flexible, has two, available foot controllers, remembers your name, and loves you deep, until you sleep!
When some people left; after a day, or two, we played a few chords, to try the acoustic guitar setting...it's below too. Some good friends of ours liked Queen's material, a great deal. There's a Brian M. on our list, but we didn't get to meet him...he's working on a new project. There's also a patch below that sounds like a band that's been popular since the 80's, from Massachusetts.
Anyway, we hope the Stars who played these samples; accept our respect, the hours spent studying their technique, the fan based support, and purchase price of concerts, and CDs etc., as offerings to archetypal artists, and guitar heroes. All this reporter knows for sure, they did a nice job on the Line6, AX2 212 audio samples. Thanks fellas!
LASTLY=> Line6 liked our audio samples, and write-up of their POD, enough to link their main site in the USA, and all World wide Internet sites, to Tonefrenzy.com. Much appreciated! When we first fiddled with the POD, this reporter felt as if he were hanging his unit...in a pool of sharks, to say this thing, had several practical uses. The POD was only out for days, when our files hit the Net: we braced for a possible backlash. They never lashed!
This Amplifier was sent back to Line6. The Amp isn't free, it's gone! We also paid full price for our POD. Some speculated that we might have a good scam for receiving free gear. It deserved a comment. There have been other treasures, many of them, and we're very thankful for the involvement, support, attention, information, kindness, and inspiration beyond belief, that we've received! Peace
